The Importance of Writing Your Goals

We all dream about our future. But do you do anything after dreaming. NO? Then what is the difference between someone who dreams and you. If you dream, you should have courage to fulfil them. What do you think, that can make your dreams possible, it’s a term called “Actions”. And now what can makes you take some action on it?

One of the best ways to encourage ourself for action is “writing things down“. Writing with the timelines.

Why most of us do not write?

Because we rely on our mind very, very much. Once a thought comes to our mind, we believe we will do something about it now onwards. But with the time, it runs away as there are a million of thoughts comes and goes everyday. We can not remember each and everything that is important to us. That is why, pen and paper invented (Yeah!! Now a day a Smartphone in your hand will work too).

Writing your goals, not only important just to remember them, but it also serve us as a great teacher that led us to do something about them. The one thing that makes it more powerful is to set a timeline along with Goals.

If you have a goal, write it down. If you do not write it down, you do not have a goal – you have a wish.

Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience

If you don’t believe, just try this time writing it down. Just list the things you want to achieve in the next week or month. Set their priority and assign a certain timeline along with each goal. Better to divide a Goal into subtasks step by step. Set a timeline that you think you can achieve for the task. Check it out everyday. Mark them done or fail as timeline crosses. Even if you can fail in a couple of things initially, but don’t give up until the last timeline comes. I bet, you will do better with each next task. Keep going with the failure and keep learning from mistakes. You will notice an improvement every time.

Setting a timeline also helps you to get more productive. Because now you have a certain time limit to accomplish your task. You will think about the alternatives, that can help you to achieve it faster.

So from now on, whenever a goal strikes your mind. Write it immediately.
